New energy contract

Dear tenants,

We told many of you that in the past year it was not possible to get a new energy contract. Because prices were rising so fast, we were told time and again that offers that had been issued were withdrawn. And every time the prices went up again. You may also have read that prices are now rising again.

We can now tell you that we have managed to negotiate a new contract for all properties, fixed for the next three years. And that we were able to do this just in time, before the big increase that has now started again, similar to last year.

With that, we were able to negotiate a price far below that of the past year. That gives peace of mind, and some air. How exactly that will play out in the bill we will pay still depends on what the additional costs (especially tax, connection fees) will be. And the price is still above what it was before 2020. So it remains important to pay close attention to consumption. But we will start to notice it in the statement.

Once we know what the advances are that we have to pay ourselves, we will recalculate the advances to you and adjust them where possible.

The new contract is effective Aug. 1, 2023.

FRAMEWORK FESTIVAL

Next Sunday, June 25, is NEstudio's RAAMWERK festival.

The festival is the beginning of a 3-month long exhibition in which twenty visual artists and twenty word artists from Rotterdam have collaborated. The result: twenty new artworks on the windows of the NE studios.

What to expect, from poets, artist talks and music to drawing performance, a poetry swap, booksellers and publishers.

Good to know:

The festival starts at 1 p.m. and ends at 6 p.m.

Admission is free.

Our office closed during holidays

Due to the vacation season, SKAR's office will be closed from Wednesday, July 19 through Wednesday, August 16. Therefore, the following guidelines apply during this period:

Repair requests

It is still possible to make a report through the report management. This can be done by going to our website and logging in with your login code, or debtor number.

Unable to log in? Please send an e-mail to onderhoud@skar-ateliers.nl. Please note that reports will not be picked up until after the vacation period.

Calamities

Our technical supervisor can be reached throughout the vacation period only for dangerous and threatening situations, including outside office hours at 06-55196382. We ask that you call only if it is extremely urgent.

SKAR is moving and: a new presentation space

After more than 15 years in the GrootHandelsGebouw, SKAR is moving. During the vacation season we are moving to The Archives, at 52 Robert Fruinstraat. You can find us there after the summer. Our mailing address remains unchanged.

Our office in the Groothandelsgebouw became too small. In addition, SKAR was also rather hidden, it was not always easy to find us. We are now moving to a place where you can already see us from outside, on the first floor.

Until September 2022, this space was used by New Current, for various exhibitions. When they left, it proved difficult to find a good tenant. At the same time, it was also clear that a presentation space that artists could direct themselves would be very welcome.

We have therefore decided to become tenants of the entire first floor ourselves for the next few years, using only half of it ourselves. The other half will be available as a presentation space. Hermans Lamers Art Lab has shown that this place can give rise to beautiful and meaningful exhibitions; we would like to see it develop further as a place for and by artists.

Accessibility

Starting Thursday, August 18, after the vacation break, our hours of availability will change. We will be available by phone on Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The walk-in clinic, by appointment, on Thursdays from 10 a.m. to noon will remain unchanged. Repair requests can always be submitted online.

Stuff in common areas

Lately we have been hearing more and more about stuff in the hallways and other common areas. Could we ask you to leave the corridors and common rooms empty at all times. Besides keeping the hallways tidy, we also ask this for fire safety reasons.

Should you not have enough space in your studio, you could always rent one of our storage rooms. If you are interested in this, please contact Martinos from rental.
