Berkelselaan 44 A + B

This former school building with beautiful high spaces houses 14 studios. It has been owned by SKAR since 1991. Artists from various disciplines work here, from photographers and painters to poets.

The three-storey building is located directly on the street side, in the middle of a residential area. At the rear is a beautiful garden. The garden is adjacent to the gardens of local residents. The tenants work with them to make the courtyard garden an even more pleasant place.

Marion Rutten

I am very busy with texture in my work, hence my love for graphics where you can print so many types of lines and textures in beautiful papers.
I also vary with the substrates on which I print; different kinds of paper, fabric or on painted linen, depending on whether the image is enhanced by it. Besides etchings and woodcuts I also make drawings; the most important in my work are the lines, moving, searching lines. This is the reason why I choose to make graphics I can make so many kinds of lines. A work has succeeded for me, if it continues to intrigue; when something happens that surprises me.My work may also feel a bit uncomfortable because I like 'active' work that keeps on singing and shivering.
