SKARlokaal is located in a redundant building (surface area approx. 490 m2) belonging to primary school De Toermalijn in Zuidwijk. The idea behind SKARlokaal is a form of "embedded artistry": artists rent surplus space in or near a school and from there enter into a long-term relationship with the school and its surroundings. The strength of the idea lies in the added value that arises when school, neighbourhood and artist(s) make use of each other.
